We want to talk about propaganda: its manifestations in U.S. history and currently, its hallmarks, its sponsors, its uses and effects. How do we define propaganda? How is this different from mis- and dis-information or from run-of-the-mill campaign messaging? And we want to talk about ways that people can recognize propaganda for what it is.

• Michael Franz, Professor of Government and Legal Studies at Bowdoin College, and  co-director of the Wesleyan Media Project.
• Jason Stanley, the Jacob Urowsky Professor of Philosophy, Yale University, and author of the new book, Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future.
